Hamburger Disco Pop-Up Store!

I am featured in the first week of the Vancouver Artists Series at the Hamburger Disco Pop-Up Store in Mt. Pleasant this month! I went to check out the store today and was thrilled to see the turn out. The people were so excited about the store, and the first 25 patrons received a free shirt!

If you're in the area, go check out the store! The young guys who are running it are great and have really gone all out for their store. It is great to see young entrepreneurs get a break like this to really showcase what they can do. I am so proud to be a part of it!

Hamburger Disco

I got an email a little while back asking for tshirt design submissions for a local Vancouver apparel company, Hamburger Disco. I thought, maybe it was just a mass email and so I responded letting them know a little about my history as a graphic designer.

After meeting with the creators yesterday, I realised they actually hand-picked a lot of great Vancouver artists. I was happy to be selected as one of them.

I sketched out a few ideas for them and they settled on one to feature during the first week of their store opening. It is a pop-up store, but it will be really neat to see my design up in an actual store. The grand opening is next weekend which will kick off with my design. If you’re in the Vancouver area, come out and meet me at the show opening on April 2nd. You can see artist’s work on the walls as well as the exclusive designs. Surprises, prizes and more!

My brother Clayton Flagg has been working on film after film these past couple years and has done some amazing work. He works in the art department, working on props, sets, design, logos, anything that needs production! He recently asked me to come up with a design for a movie he was working on called Subsistence.

This was taken with my father's Pentax 55mm film camera. I took a picture of my friend in a dark room lit by the kitchen. I then attempted to double expose the photo with some blurry lights on top. Instead of cranking the film all the way, I only advanced halfway. I am unsure what the second picture was, but this is my favourite so far.

Steve & Tristan Engagement Photos

I was lucky to have the opportunity to shoot my first engagement shoot a few weeks back. I met with Steve & Tristan at Deer Lake, near the Shadbolt Centre and the Burnaby Art Gallery. They are a beautiful couple, and you can tell they are very much in love.

I apologise to my 4 followers on the absence of any postings lately. I have gone back to classes! I am also in the process of redesigning my personal identity as well as an actual website. It will be launched in the next month, as soon as I figure out how to design it.

At least I got my logo done...

Airbrush!

I found the airbrush!

It's a gravity feed. It's a bit corroded, but it's working well for me at the moment! I finally got something done with it, too! I painted a fireman's helmet!
I was sure nervous about it, but it turned out okay in the end.

I am going to buy an airbrush!

My grandfather had one, and my dad inherited it when he passed 5 years ago, but for the life of us, we don't know where the heck it went!!!

I'm painting a fireman's helmet, and two goalie masks and I want them to look as good as they possibly could be. I knew immediately when my client told me that maybe he'd like flames down the side of his fireman's helmet that I wanted to airbrush them like they do on hot rods. I know it's ambitious. I need to have it done at the end of the week. But I am stoked.

This one turned out REALLY nicely. I enjoyed doing that one a lot, I thought it was going to be horrendous trying to draw an aquarium, but it was actually fairly easy :) And the colours also printed really nice.

Hello!

I haven't been keeping this consistant. Just like everything else in my life! Goodness. I start something I do not intend to finish. Sheesh.

So here's some updates from me. New shirt up at Snorg:

Getting some professional jobs here and there through word of mouth. It's a nervous process meeting someone for the first time and hearing what they have to say about your work. It's even more nerve-wracking when more than one person you've never met all have opinions on your work.
Needless to say I've got a bit of work ahead of me - but I'm up for the challenge!

It still tickles me to see strangers wearing my shirt designs. Snorg updates every week with new people wearing Snorg shirts. If you have one of mine, post it! I'd love to see you wearing it :D

Got around to finishing an old illustration. I wanted to make a background, I'm so lazy. I might try again!

I've got a photoshoot this Wednesday with a lovely young model. I hope to have some new interesting glamour shots to add to my pitiful portfolio. You should see those by the end of the week.

Back in classes!

It's already begun, the looming sense of deadlines and extra curricular work.

I'm thinking of moving my blog to livejournal or something more socially active. I feel as though I'm sheltering myself here. What I really need to do is create a real website. It's ridiculous I didn't start one earlier when I actually had the time. We create our own personal website during the school year and I didn't want to be bothered trying to remember how to code. It's a frightfully tedious task. Kudos to all those web designers, I just can't hack it. Pun intended.

What do you think, 4 readers? Should I move my website to a livejournal where more people can find and search for me?
